The Axe That Ruled the Forest: A Satire on Democracy By Gopakumar Rajan

Once upon a time, there was a forest, and in this forest lived many trees of different shapes and sizes. One day, an axe appeared in the forest and started campaigning to be the leader of the trees. The axe promised the trees that it would protect them from outsiders and make the forest great again. The trees were swayed by the axe's words and voted for it to be their leader.

As soon as the axe was elected, it started chopping down trees left and right. The trees realized their mistake too late and tried to stop the axe, but it was too powerful. The axe had cleverly convinced them that it was one of them because its handle was made of wood. The axe continued to chop down trees until the forest was decimated.

In this forest, the trees had voted for their own destruction. They had fallen for the deception of the wooden handle, and their complacency had led to their demise. The sad truth was that the axe was not one of them, and democracy had failed them.

The moral of the story is that democracy can be a double-edged sword. It can be used for good, but it can also be used for evil. The decision of who to vote for is a matter of life and death, and we must not make the mistake of voting against our own interests. We must be vigilant and educated voters, and we must always beware of the wooden handle deception.

In conclusion, the forest in this story represents our democratic society, and the axe represents those who use democracy to further their own interests. The lesson we must learn is that we must always be vigilant to protect our democracy, otherwise, we may one day find ourselves in a decimated forest.
